As part of a series of articles on wellness, and what is on offer here in St Agnes, we start with Trapeze Yoga.
In a world where wellness practices are constantly evolving, Trapeze Yoga stands out as an innovative and transformative practice that combines the fluidity of traditional yoga with the dynamic support of a trapeze. At the forefront of this movement is Victoria Leigh, one of only five certified Trapeze Yoga instructors in the UK, known for her passionate approach to teaching and her dedication to empowering individuals through movement.
What is Trapeze Yoga?
Trapeze Yoga, often referred to as Aerial Yoga, involves using a suspended fabric trapeze to perform yoga poses. This fabric acts as a support system that allows practitioners to explore new dimensions of traditional yoga postures, increasing flexibility, strength, and balance in a wholly unique way.
The trapeze provides leverage, enabling deeper stretches, core stabilization, and fun inversions with added safety. This practice is suitable for yogis of all levels, offering modifications that can accommodate beginners and challenges that can engage more advanced practitioners.
The Benefits of Trapeze Yoga
Trapeze Yoga offers numerous benefits, including:
- Enhanced Flexibility: The support of the trapeze facilitates deeper stretches, helping to improve flexibility over time.
- Core Strength: As practitioners work against gravity, they engage core muscles, which aids in building core strength.
- Spinal Decompression: Inversions and supported stretches can help decompress the spine, relieve tension, and enhance overall spinal health.
- Mental Clarity: Like traditional yoga, Trapeze Yoga encourages mindfulness and stress reduction, promoting a sense of peace and well-being.
- Injury Prevention: The support of the trapeze can help prevent injuries by ensuring proper alignment and providing added stability.

Curtains by the Sea: A Soggy Dog Dilemma.
Ah, the joys of seaside living: salty breezes, sandy toes, and... damp, mouldy curtains? Yes, for those of us lucky enough to call a coastal abode home, the struggle against soggy dog encounters and relentless sea air wreaking havoc on our curtains is all too real. But fear not, I may have stumbled upon a solution that combines practicality with panache: Weaver Green to the rescue!
Picture this: sumptuous interlined curtains, the epitome of elegance and charm, fluttering in the sea breeze. Now, add in a dose of reality: dampness, mould, and the occasional swipe from a soggy pooch. Suddenly, those luxurious curtains don't seem so dreamy anymore.
Enter Weaver Green, the eco-friendly heroes of the textile world. Crafting rugs, blankets, and cushions from recycled plastic bottles, they've revolutionized the concept of sustainable home decor. But wait, there's more! These marvels of modern ingenuity are not only water and stain-resistant but also machine washable.
In a stroke of genius (if I do say so myself), I've taken three diamond design Weaver Green blankets and transformed them into full-length curtains for the main window of our seaside sanctuary. The result? Nothing short of fabulous. Not only do they exude homely warmth and style, but they also laugh in the face of dampness and doggy mishaps.
And the best part? We've not just solving our curtain conundrum; we're also doing our part for the planet.
